Not sure which bible verses to show them? Nervous that you can’t coherently communicate the gospel? Afraid you’ll get confused? If so, then this is the course for you! The purpose of the first 8 weeks of this course is to train you to clearly and simply proclaim the gospel message. Each lesson will help you think through the vital aspects of a God-centered message, while 'Evangelism Keys' will provide practical applications to assist you. The goal of "Grace Evangelism" is to assist you in glorifying God by proclaiming the saving message of Jesus Christ.(Part 2) - "Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate." – John PiperThis new edition of a bestselling textbook (over 185,000 copies sold) draws on key biblical texts to demonstrate that worship is the ultimate goal of the church and that proper worship fuels missionary outreach. John Piper offers a biblical defense of God's supremacy in all things, providing readers with a sound theological foundation for missions. He examines whether Jesus is the only way to salvation and issues a passionate plea for God-centeredness in the missionary enterprise, seeking to define the scope of the task and the means for reaching "all nations." The third edition has been revised and expanded throughout and includes new material on the prosperity gospel. The book is essential reading for those involved in or preparing for missions work. It also offers enlightenment for college and seminary students, pastors, youth workers, campus ministers, and all who want to connect their labors to God's global purposes.Shepherding A Child's HeartShepherding a Child's Heart satisfies the hunger for fresh, biblical approaches to child rearing. It is about how to speak to the heart of your child. The things your child does and says flow from the heart. Luke 6:45 puts it this way, ". . . out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." (NIV) Written for parents with children of any age, this insightful book provides perspectives and procedures for shepherding your child's heart into the paths of life.In this revised edition of Shepherding a Child's Heart, Dr. Tedd Tripp not only draws on his thirty years experience as a pastor, counselor, school administrator, and father, but he also shares insights gained in many years of teaching this material in conferences worldwide, providing more valuable help for parents.Experiencing The Passion of ChristThis course is aWhile all Christians know that Christ died and rose again for sinners, what you may not know is the story behind the story. John MacArthur’s Experiencing the Passion of Christ takes you back in time to follow Christ’s journey to and through the cross. Weaving together several Bible accounts of the crucifixion and events leading up to it, John provides powerful, poignant insight into what was, at once, the most heinous act of human injustice and the greatest demonstration of love the world will ever see. With the flood of questions and deep introspection that Mel Gibson's blockbuster movie, The Passion of the Christ, is creating, John MacArthur responds with a workbook that answers those deep, personal, and sincere questions. So many people know about Jesus, but they don't really understand why Jesus had to suffer and die. Experiencing the Passion of Christ will give you a front-row seat as Christ's life unfolds. You will be placed on the scene, confronted up close with the painful events of the cross, but you will also see the majestic glory found in "the rest of the story."

Connect Groups are where church members really get to know one another and enjoy Christian fellowship. The Bible is very clear in its teaching that the local church is not to be simply a gathering of individual believers whose lives are independent of one another. In fact, the Bible calls us to a very personal inter-dependence…sometimes called “biblical community.” The Scriptures call believers very specifically to practice certain things toward one another. We are instructed to Encourage one another, Fellowship with one another, Be Kind to one another, Confess Sins & Pray with one another, Offer Hospitality to one another, Honor one another, Serve one another, Admonish one another, Instruct one another, Carry Burdens for one another, and Spur One Another Along to love & good deeds…and these are just a few of the things we’re called to do for “one another.” Connect Groups are the small-group environment in our church where we get to put into practice these biblical instructions. Although each of our Connect Groups is unique (and in some ways very different from each other), they share these common goals.Connect Groups may be created around a variety of activities. Connect Groups can be formed around a Bible study, a common activity or hobby, a sports activity, or really anything that brings people together to practice the “one anothers” with each other. Co-PastorsWhat does Co-Pastor mean? Frank Cone & Greg Smith serve as our Co-Pastors. They share the pulpit, and lead the congregation together, while having specific areas of responsibility that they individually oversee.Pastor FRANK oversees Worship & Congregational Care/CounselingPastor GREG oversees Teaching, Assimilation, & Discipleship Who does what? The Co-Pastors share big picture leadership: vision, planning, and general direction, while each has areas of specialty in ministry. These ministry specialties were assigned according to skills, passion, and experience. We share the pulpit, each of us participating in every sermon series.Preaching and Sermon Prep People often ask how we work out the preaching calendar. After prayer and seeking God's face concerning what the congregation needs from the Word, the Co-Pastors will determine the main preaching series theme. We typically preach verse-by-verse through books of the Bible. From there we divide up the text at its natural breaks, see who is available, and finally consider who has desires (if any) for a specific passage. We work hard on the text together, study our individual passages, share notes, and seek advice on understanding the text as well as delivery. There will be some specific hours set aside during the week to discuss unique aspects of the text, to review each previous sermon, and to pray.

A New Church with Historic RootsIt seems that these days, in our culture, we are regularly hearing about churches that split, because the members can't seem to get along with each other. Only very rarely do we ever hear of churches in the same town willingly choosing to join forces in order to better advance God's Kingdom and better serve the community. By God's grace, we are just that kind of church!Grace on the Ashley held its first official worship service on January 2, 2011, but the historical roots of our church go back over 118 years. Our church was formed from the merger of Pierpont Baptist Church and Rutledge Baptist Church. Rutledge Baptist Church officially began 118 years ago, in downtown Charleston, as Cannon Street Baptist Church. As the church grew and ministries expanded, the church moved to a new property on Rutledge Avenue and later relocated to the current location on Bees Ferry Rd. Pierpont Baptist had been serving the Pierpont area of West Ashley for 50 years before the merger. In January of 2010, God began to plant the vision in our pastors' hearts that our churches might be able to make a greater impact for Christ together than we were individually, maintaining two separate churches less than two miles apart. Throughout the year-long process of exploring this vision, God confirmed His Will in the hearts of the two church leadership teams and the two congregations. The result of that process is the launch of Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church...a new church with historic roots. Come by and visit us, and you will find a loving church family, faithful and deep bible teaching, God-exalting worship, and an environment that will challenge you to know God and grow in your faith.

We are currently taking a a verse-by-verse journey through the book of ACTS.

Was it patched together like a community cookbook? Not quite. The truth is much more interesting. In this course you will gain a clear understanding of how we got the Bible that we hold today. You will learn where it came from, how it is organized, what types of study aides are available, and you will get an overview of each book of the Bible. In this 13-week course, we will look at the main characters in the book, climaxing with the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. PART 1 of this course covers the Old Testament, and PART 2 covers the New Testament. Students can take these courses in any order. This course is open to all adults.Instruments in the Redeemer's HandsInstruments in the Redeemer's Hands by Paul Tripp is a comprehensive treatment of how God uses people as tools of change in other people's lives, people who themselves are in need of change. We might be relieved if God placed our sanctification only in the hands of trained professionals, but this is not his plan. Instead, through the ministry of every part of the body, the whole church will mature in Christ. Paul David Tripp helps us discover where change is needed in our own lives and the lives of others. Following the example of Jesus, Tripp reveals how to get to know people, and how to lovingly speak truth to them.In Defense of the GospelThis course is a combination of 2 dvd-based courses. The first is "The Reason For God" by Tim Keller, and the second is "Jesus Among Other Gods" by Ravi Zacharias. In the first part, pastor and author Timothy Keller meets with a group of people over six sessions to address their doubts and objections to Christianity. Using literature, philosophy, real-life experiences, and the Bible, Keller and the group explore the truth of Christianity. In the second part, apologetics scholar and popular speaker Ravi Zacharias shows how the blueprint for life and death itself is found in a true understanding of Jesus. With a simple yet penetrating style, Zacharias uses rich illustrations to celebrate the power of Jesus Christ to transform lives This content of this course is taught by Tim Keller & Ravi Zacharias on dvd. It is open to all adults.
